Part of the castle and the carefully restored houses of the little hamlet surrounding it are available as self-catering accommodations for vacation rental, by the owners who live in the castle themselves.
The villas on this 700-acre estate in Tuscany enjoy a swimming-pool, a tennis court, large wooded areas for pleasant walks and beautiful vistas over the farmed fields in the valley.
Most have private gardens as well.
The historic and charming Castle of Montalto lies in one of the loveliest and most unspoiled parts of the Chianti area of Tuscany, not far from Siena, and is very centrally located for art touring - an excellent home base for sight-seeing, winery visits and exploring back roads.
Silence and peace make Montalto a perfect refuge for resting or enjoying open-air activities: swimming and tennis, hiking, biking or jogging, fishing, horse-back riding at the near-by stables, visits to local natural thermal spas, golf and polo.
